American's Jeff Jones continues to pile up juco recruits. The latest to sign with AU is a 6-9 Constantin Motnii, a Russian who spent last season at South Plains College in Texas.

Motnii averaged 12.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, helping his team to a 26-7 season and a share of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference regular-season title.

Motnii is American's third junior college recruit in the incoming class, as AU transitions from Team Lithuania to Team Juco.

According to the popular Babel Fish translator, that is how you say "Lafayette wins first two on trip" in Italian.

The Leopards probably could use a Palm version of the site on their trip to Italy, where they have won their first two of four scheduled games.

The 'Pards opened the trip with an 83-80 win over Robur Saronno Vertical Vision, then picked up a 78-69 win over the Marghera Giants in game two of the trip.

In addition to the faces familiar from last season, guard Jeff Robinson is also on the trip. Robinson, who scored in double figures in the first game, is a 6-3 sophomore-eligible who sat out last season after transferring from East Carolina, where he earned a walk-on roster spot as a freshman.

Holy Cross won't be going to Graceland after all.

The Commercial Appeal in Memphis reports the Crusaders have dropped off of Memphis' schedule, opting out of a reported $70,000 buy game.

John Calipari told the paper HC had dropped its commitment to play the Tigers at the FedExForum. Since HC never announced the date, we will wait until there is word from Ralph Willard before buying into Calipari's renege allegations.

Our guess is most likely no contract had been signed and Calipari likely was premature in announcing the game.

Bucknell grad J.R. Holden scored 11 points on 4 for 6 shooting, but it was not enough to lift defending Euroleague champion CSKA to a second straight title.

The Russian powerhouse dropped a 93-91 decision to Panathinaikos (Greece) in the Euroleague final. Holden, who was 2 for 3 from three-point range and 2 for 3 inside the arc, finishes the Euroleague season averaging 10 ppg on 50.5 percent shooting inside the three-point line and 36.6 percent three-point shooting.

Holden and CSKA will return to action later this week in the Russian Superleague quarterfinals, where they currently hold a 2-0 lead in their best of five series with Spartak St.Petersburg.

When he is not fighting for social justice, Bob Fouracre can be found the same place he has been for 37 years -- behind the microphone at a Holy Cross game.

And after Saturday night's induction banquet, you'll find Fourace one other place -- in the Holy Cross Varsity Club Hall of Fame.

In a profile in today's Telegram & Gazette, Fouracre recalls how he got his start and talks about some of his memorable moments calling HC games.
